Here’s a question we get a lot: how exactly does the AEO work?
The AEO is split into two rounds.
Round one is a two-hour exam. It’s got multiple-choice and open-ended questions, and it covers fundamental concepts in macroeconomics and microeconomics. Each AEO participant sits the round-one exam, which is held at the same time in classrooms across the country.
The top 40 performers from round one move on to round two.
Round two is the case study round. The top performers are randomly grouped into five-person teams to develop a case study on economic policy.
Each team will have 48 hours to work on the case study…which is then presented to a panel of professional economists and economics educators.
The winners of the stage around crowned the overall AEO champions.
Registration can only be done by economics teachers and can be completed directly from our website.
